We recently got the chance to help out automotive creator and drift driver Chris Rudnik, better known online as Ricer Miata, with a radio setup for his latest drift event.
If you follow Rudnik, you already know the deal. His videos show the real side of building and running cars: late nights in the shop, last-minute fixes, testing, breaking things, getting them back together, and making it back to the track.
For this event, we set Rudnik up with radio communication for both sides of the team: an in-car setup for the driver and a crew/spotter setup outside the car. The goal was simple: help Chris and his spotter stay connected through staging, practice, and competition runs, especially when quick decisions need to be made during a busy event weekend.
Drifting moves fast. Between lining up, making adjustments, watching the course, and getting feedback after a run, the driver and spotter need to stay connected.
A good radio setup makes that a lot easier. The driver can stay focused in the car while the spotter keeps an eye on what is happening outside the windshield. Whether it's feedback on a run, a quick call before staging, or a heads-up about something mechanical, being able to communicate clearly makes a difference.
For Chris, we supplied a driver-to-crew setup built for the kind of loud, hectic environment you get at a drift event.
It doesn't matter if you're drifting, road racing, running short track, working pit lane, or managing a small grassroots team. When the car is on track, the driver needs the right information at the right time.
Check out Chris’s videos below to see the full weekend come together. The first video takes you into the LZ World Tour event itself, where Chris gets the car on track and puts the setup to use in a real drift competition environment.
The second video follows the push to get everything ready before the event, with the usual mix of shop work, problem-solving, and last-minute prep.
If you are into grassroots drifting, car builds, or just seeing what actually goes into getting a car from the shop to the starting line, these are worth a watch.
If you're building a communication setup for your car, crew, spotter, pit lane, or team, we can help you figure out what you need. Whether you are starting with handheld radios or putting together a full in-car system, Racing Radios can help match the right equipment to your car, your crew, and the way you race.
